Frankenstorm is on it's way

Unfortunately, I live in the path of Hurricane Sandy so I'll be offline for a while. The hurricane is suppose to be really bad and I'm certain that I'll probably lose power. Last storm, we didn't have power for an entire week so I expect the same thing this time. Forgive me if you don't hear from me for a while-- just blame the crummy weather.

Party Planning Committee

Wow. This week has just flown by. Seriously, my sleep pattern is still recovering from the last couple of days. Making the recovery back to a day with night sleep pattern is a bit troublesome. 
The other night, I found out that my job will be having a party and I've been nominated to become a member of the party planning committee. I like parties and I did well at the last event so I'll be helping out again. It'll be my job to help coordinate the guests and their activities. We have to do a cultural diversity event day which will include a couple of cultural diversity seminars and a food/activities event. As I said before, I'm not much a cook so I'll have to have help making the dish I need to bring. This is going to be fun~! I'm looking forward to it.

Working On the Night...

The next couple of days I'll be working the night shift at my job. I have to do it every now and then when it falls as part of my rotation. It should give me some
uninterrupted time to draw and write for DA. It's my first time going back to work since vacation so I'll probably have to catch up on some paperwork first. I'm hoping to have some stuff ready to post by August. Coloring on the computer at home takes me a long time so it will probably slow me down. I've also gotta get a new tablet and scanner but I have to save some money and do a little research before I do that.

Devious Journal Entry

So yesterday I had to bake a cake for an event I'm going to today. But the problem is, I'm not a very skilled cook. Things usually end up tasting pretty good but the appearance of the food is always less than desirable. For instance, if I was on one of Gordon Ramsey's cooking shows, he'd yell at me for plating some of the worst looking dishes ever. SO, anyway, I set out to make this two layer golden cake with store bought butter cream frosting. I get out all the ingredients and I mix up the cake very carefully. Then I grease the two pans, set the timer, and then after a while I have the two layers I need for the cake.
Then comes the problem. I have to frost the damn thing. I try doing it and the top of the cake starts flaking. It just won't go on smooth even though I'm trying really hard. My father is a really good cook but he isn't home so I can't ask him what I'm doing wrong. All the while, my younger sister is watching me make this huge mess. Eventually she face palms and insists on helping me and me being stubborn doesn't want the help. I try a little bit more but realize this isn't getting me anywhere so I give in. The cake came out looking okay. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the taste is good. I guess I'll find out later today.

OMG! I feel kinda silly but I just now discovered the search groups function on DA. That will be soo helpful looking for groups to join in the future. I love being part of a lot of different groups. I'm a hardcore shipper and I love all sorts of pairings. I'm super excited!! Hopefully, I'll be posting and contributing stuff soon.
